Responding to the Worst of the Worst … How to Increase Your Chances of Survival with an Active Shooter

Statistically speaking, someone is more likely to be struck by lightning than find themselves in a terrorist or active shooter incident. Most everyone is prepared for foul weather, however, most do not know how to react in a situation involving significant criminal events.

Therefore, Sgt. Ronnie Powell of the Harris County Precinct One Constable’s Office will be presenting a Security Awareness and Surviving an Active Shooter seminar that will educate us on how to defend ourselves in the event of an active shooter situation.

 Some of the topics that are included in the presentation are:

*Security Awareness – knowing what to look for and limit your vulnerabilities.

*Critical Incident Planning – knowing what to do and where to go before an incident occurs.              

*Emergency Communication – how quickly can people be notified of a critical incident.

*Survival Strategies – knowing the 3 best options to increase your chances of survival in a significant criminal incident.
