Our Featured Presenter will be Cynthia Rivera, Co-Owner and Operator of the Legendary Alamo Tamales!  Learn more about this Houston institution's past, its' present activities and what lies ahead.   When folks here in Houston think tamales, chances are very likely that Alamo will be the first one that comes to not only the mind but the taste buds as well!  

ABOUT CYNTHIA

I have been part of Alamo Tamales since I was a child. I started helping and learning all aspects of the business at 13 which has blessed me to be able to be part of the Northside community and give back .I have been able to help from Hurricane Harvey and adopting families in need I have also had the pleasure to donate to the Shriners Hospital for burnt children every Easter . I am an advocate for our youth in our community from mentoring to rescuing trafficking victims. I also have worked along with The Mayors Anti-Gang juvenile gang task force . I am starting along with others in our community a week of awareness that is called Letty's Promise every year from December 9th to the 12th and will be educating our youth on bullying, LGBTQ ,sex trafficking, sexual assault, and Mental Awareness. It has been an honor to serve my community and will continue to do so.

ABOUT ALAMO TAMALES

 Alamo Tamales (A Platinum Sponsor Member of the GNCC) has been in business for over 50 years. Originated in San Antonio, but very soon after moved to Houston, TX. Beginning with a small loan and grew from there. We have two locations, one near Downtown Houston one on Berry Rd. Our Tamales became so popular in the Houston area over the years, that we were able to expand our Berry Rd. Location, to the Alamo Plaza you visit today.

 We use family recipes from our grandmothers. The spices we use are purchased whole and then we grind them so the spices perfume is left in the tamale. Our best seller is the homemade Pork. They are also available in Chicken, Beef, Jalapeño and Cheese, and Bean. We offer both home made and machine made tamales. During the holiday season we offer Sweet Tamales. We have very strict sanitation procedures to insure the quality of our food is excellent. All our food is fresh, made daily, homemade style.
